Hi, I’m Sean Walker and I started Construction Unlimited in 2003. I completed my apprenticeship in Christchurch in 1987 with a Trade Certificate and Advanced Trade Certificate.

I then worked as a contractor for 12 months and travelled to South Africa where I played rugby and was a very young foreman, building a 1,000m2 factory in the Kwa Zulu industrial area. Continuing my travels, I worked on a variety of commercial projects in London for 2 years. During this time I met my wife-to-be Glenda (who is now running the office). We returned to her home in Australia where I spent the next 10 years working on many exciting and technical projects in the Thredbo Ski Field area. During this time I completed a Small Business Management course which enabled me to get a contractors license. 12 months later I sat the required exams to gain a NSW Builders License.

At the end of 2000 we made the decision to move our family to NZ. I spent the next 3 years running large domestic and commercial projects all over Christchurch for well-known firm Image Builders, before finally establishing Construction Unlimited. Over 10 years later, I’m proud to have a team of great builders and am looking forward to making your project our next focus.

Construction Unlimited was established in 2003 by Sean Walker. We decided to target the extension and renovation market as our niche area, but soon expanded our list of services to include anything from tricky builds and new architectural homes through to commercial fitouts, house levelling, repairs and siteworks across Canterbury. Over the years we have risen to various challenges and taken on many one-off projects both in the commercial and residential sector and – in the last 4 years – in relation to the Christchurch earthquakes. We have worked with insurance companies IAG, Vero, Tower, MAS and AAI.

Construction Unlimited generally run a team of 4 to 6 long-term builders, a couple of whom have been with us for 10+ years! We also always have an apprentice coming through (we’ve had 10 over the years whose services we’re still able to call on!). Due to the nature of the work we do, all our builders have exposure to both traditional and modern forms of construction, and we have a depth of knowledge across a wide range of projects as a company.

Apart from commitment to quality and an eye for detail to the finished product, we place a huge emphasis on communication. We understand that you might not have been involved in building projects before and always explain the process as we go to keep you in the loop. When you choose Construction Unlimited you are talking to the Director, not an employee. The office is run by my wife Glenda so at all time you are dealing with people who want everyone to be happy with the outcome.
